The main walkway leads to multiple galleries, each of which show interactive exhibits about science and education in general. It provides locals as well as tourists an insight to the history of the city, and allows them to look at the region of the former Portuguese colony of Macau, which has now evolved into the Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
It occupied a total size of 2,800 m², of which 2,100 m² is reserved for exhibition space.
The Taipa Houses-Museum
This museum is located on the south side of Taipa, and what makes it different from the other museums is that it has not been constructed but established in a set of old houses that were previously built for other purposes. The south side of Taipa consists of one of the islands that forms part of Macau.
These five houses were originally constructed in 1921 and belonged to wealthy Portuguese families. They were restored in 1999, and since then, are filled with different exhibits and artefacts. They are now looked over by the Macau Civil and Municipal Affairs Bureau.
