The mixing of the European and Chinese cultures for centuries has resulted in a great atmosphere that is rich in attractions in Macau.
Macau is packed with place of worship of multiple religions. For example, you can see churches and temples on a regular basis. You can also see fortresses and old buildings whose architect are a distinct reminder of the mix of Portuguese and Chinese style. Besides that, there are also lots of narrow alleyways that combine to form an intricate maze in the old part of Macau. This is the place where the people of Macau carry out their regular businesses and work. Macau also has many pretty gardens to offer, if you are looking for some earthen tranquility.
Statue of the BodhisattaAvalokitesvara:
The statue of the BodhisattaAvalokitesvarais an interesting landmark that every tourist coming to Macua should check out. This is situated next to the sea near the Sands Casino and MGM Grand. Even though it is Chinese deity, the statue has a distinct European design and reminds us of the Virgin Mary statues put up all over Europe.
The Macau Tower:
The Macau Tower offers many adventure sports like bunjy jumping, sky walking, or bouldering and climbing activities that conducted at the base of the tower. It is 233 meter in height and is maintained and operated by A. J. Hackett.
Fisherman’s Wharf:
This is the first theme park to have been constructed in Macau. You can enjoy some theme-park activities here.It is situated in the Macau Peninsula, close to the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Pier. The complex includes over 150 stores, so shopping would be a great option at this place. There are also restaurants built in the style of different world seaports such as Cape Town, Venice and Amsterdam. After satisfying your taste buds, you can relax in the slots hall or casino, or retire to their 72-room hotel.
Sao Paulo Cathedral:
These are now only the remains of a cathedral that was originally built in the 16th century. They were officially incorporated as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Macau in 2005. There are many carvings such as Jesuit images. These have Oriental themes. For example, you can see a woman trampling a hydra with seven heads. Chinese characters describe this as ‘ Holy Mother tramples the heads of the dragon.’
Museums
Macau also has many museums such as ‘the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History’ and ‘Taipa Houses Museum’. These are located in the island of Taipa. However, the Macau Museum is situated in the Macau Peninsula.

Hi,
I am planning to propose to my girlfriend next year when we go to Macau, can you advise regarding accomodation. I would like a hotel that is in or near a casino and that is quite upmarket. I want this to be special for my special lady!
Can I get a discount theme park ticket?
Should I wear enclosed shoes or are thongs ok?
Hi Savannah,
Thongs are ok to walk around the streets during the day, but if you are going into any Churches or going out to dinner I would suggest enclosed shoes.
Hi Andrew,
Yes there are discounted tickets, I suggest you contact CTS (China Travel Service) in Hong Kong.
Well congratulations David on your upcoming proposal! One of the best hotels/casinos I have stayed at was the Venetian. Has beautiful split level rooms and a lot
